Ein großes Spätwerk der 80jährigen Regisseurlegende Martin Scorsese, ein 206 Minuten langes Filmepos nach dem Buch "Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI" von David Grann. Die Musik ist von seinem langjährigen Freund Robbie Robertson, der von RAGING BULL (1980) bis FLOWER MOON bei vielen Filmen mit Scorsese zusammenarbeitete. Dies ist seine letzte Arbeit kurz vor seinem Tod im August diesen Jahres. Robertson war Leadgitarrist für Bob Dylan und Mitglied von The Band.
Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts brachte das Erdöl der Osage Nation großen Reichtum und sie wurde über Nacht zu einem der wohlhabendsten Völker der Welt. Der Wohlstand dieser Ureinwohner Amerikas zog sofort weiße Eindringlinge an, die die Menschen manipulierten, erpressten und den Osage so viel Geld stahlen, wie sie konnten – bis sie sogar zum Mord übergingen. Vor diesem Hintergrund erzählt „Killers of the Flower Moon“ anhand der ungewöhnlichen Liebe zwischen Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) und Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone) eine epische Western-Krimisaga, in der wahre Liebe und ein unfassbarer Verrat aufeinandertreffen.
